"Da Vinci Code" Breaking Records

Even though religious critics have given it a big thumbs down, "The Da Vinci Code" is breaking records. Easily the largest opening of the year, the film made $77 million in the U.S., and is now the overseas' highest opening ever at $147 million. The three-day opening returns beat out the overseas runner-up, "Star Wars Episode III" at $145 million.

Those are some pretty big numbers despite the negative reviews, but I can't say that I'm surprised. It just goes to show that you don't even have to put out a quality movie in order to make money these days.
